Mount Pleasant based Beacon Community Bank and the parent company of Coastal Carolina National Bank finalized their merger on October 1. The combined bank runs roughly 2.3 billion dollars in assets and 2 billion in deposits across 16 branches and one loan office, and will take the Beacon Bank name in mid March 2027.
Why this matters here
Community banks are where a lot of Lowcountry small businesses get their first line of credit, and a merger changes who signs off on those loans. Owners banking with either institution should expect written notice of any account changes at least 30 days ahead, and this is a reasonable moment to ask your banker what stays the same.
