When I started doing taxes, I was working a 9–5 where I poured in so much of my time, energy, and intellectual capital into an environment that just wasn’t healthy. Leadership was constantly under investigation, promotions were political, and the good ol’ boy network made growth almost impossible.

But even in that chaos, something in me said, “There’s more.”

My first year in tax prep was a whirlwind. I didn’t know much — I had to self-teach, research late into the night, and figure things out the hard way. But every client, every challenge, made me sharper and more certain that this was my purpose.

I’ll never forget one client — a single father who was several years behind on his taxes. He had just gone through a divorce, lost a parent, and was now caring for his disabled sister. He didn’t just need a tax preparer. He needed someone to listen, to take the weight off his shoulders.

When I got him caught up and even secured refunds for several of those years, he was in tears. And in that moment, I knew… this is what I was called to do.

My heart is for the single parents, working families, and small business owners who’ve been overcharged by big-box brands and underserved by a system that was never built with them in mind.
