Mount Pleasant asks residents what to do with 38 acres on Faison Road

Mount Pleasant Town Council voted 6-2 on Oct. 13 to open a public input process on 38 town-owned acres on Faison Road rather than issue a request for proposals right away. The town bought the land in 2021 for about $6.5 million, most of it American Rescue Plan Act money. Two proposals are already on the table, including one from the YMCA of Coastal Carolina.

Why this matters here

Thirty-eight acres in upper Mount Pleasant could end up as medical offices, restaurants, recreation or homes, and the town is deciding out loud. Owners who want commercial space on that side of town have a rare opening to say so before a developer is chosen.
